Supporting the South Plaistow 24 hour Table Tennis Marathon in aid of Antony Nolan
We’re proud to support the South Plaistow 24 hour table tennis marathon in aid of Antony Nolan, a pioneering charity that saves the lives of people with blood cancer. The epic marathon community event will take place at the Swift Youth Centre from 4pm Friday 8th March and will see players from across the community of all ages and abilities don their table tennis bats in this endurance event. Players will be tasked to keep the table tennis game running for every minute of the 24 hours throughout the day, evening and night, finishing at 4pm the following day.
The marathon aims to raise awareness and funds for Antony Nolan. Every day, Anthony Nolan saves the lives of people with a blood cancer or blood disorders. They do this by matching incredible individuals willing to donate their stem cells to people who desperately need a lifesaving transplant.
In the UK, 40% of patients who need a transplant can’t find a donor. If the patient is from a BAME that rises to 80% and the charity are working to increase the diversity of the donor registry.
You don’t need to have any previous experience of playing table tennis to participate, just a willingness to take part, so if you’re available during any part of the 24 hours, we need your help! All ages and abilities welcome including children.
Simply drop in to the Swift Youth Centre, 387 Barking Road, Plaistow, London, E13 8AL anytime between 4pm Friday 8th March to 4pm Saturday 9th March.
There will be food and drink available, as well as table tennis lessons from some of the high level players volunteering for the event for those wanting to learn more or brush up their skills.
If you can’t attend you can donate now on this link or get in touch with Antony Nolan to become a bone marrow donor.
Every penny you donate will make a difference.
Good luck to all of the players taking part and we look forward to seeing you there!
