Jess Fulton supports Streets of London Sleep-Out 2019, to help raise awareness and funds for the homeless
Our very own GPR Surveyor, Jess Fulton slept out under the stars on 18th October to support Streets of London, a charity that funds specialist support for people who are homeless in London.
According to Streets of London, nearly 9,000 people sleep rough on the streets of London every year. The Office for National Statistics reported an estimated 726 deaths of homeless people in England and Wales registered in 2018, the highest year-to-year increase (22%) since the time series began.
People don’t choose to be homeless. They find themselves forced onto the streets after a major crisis that leaves them with nowhere else to go.
“I’m thrilled to have received the support of so many friends, colleagues and family members. Between my friend and I, we managed to raise £623 which substantially exceeded our target of £200. It was a good experience and we are glad to have the opportunity to be part of it, despite the cold weather,” commented Jess.
Last year, around 60 people signed up for the first Streets of London Sleep-Out in October 2018, raising around £30,000+ to support this event. This year, there were significant increases in both participants and donations with around 150 people taking part and more then £40,000 donations received.
Jess is still accepting donations so you can show your support here.
