About This Project

Overview

The purpose of the survey is to demonstrate, via a case study, good data capture and 3D modelling techniques. An exemplar dataset covering all aspects of the built environment is to be captured using a variety of survey methods as listed below:
– Terrestrial Laser Scanning
– Mobile Laser Scanning
– Aerial SUA Survey
– Structural Hilti Rebar Survey
– Topographical and Underground Utility Surveys
– BIM/Meta-data survey

The goal is to capture a complete dataset including meta-data on all components within the buildings for use in facilities management as well as for internal & external presentations/marketing.



Survey Requirements

  • Setup a robust control network across the entire site
  • Undertake full internal and external building surveys of the main HQ building and adjacent carpark building
  • Undertake Aerial SUA survey over HQ and carpark buildings
  • Undertake mobile mapping survey of surrounding streets (from Rickmansworth Station to Skanska site)
  • Undertake Structural rebar survey of a small allocated area of concrete car-park structure
  • Complete a LOD500 BIM model of the main HQ and Carpark buildings
  • BIM model to include exemplar meta-data for all visible components of the building and MEP
  • Meta-data to include as much information as possible on MEP features – such as Manufacturers, Serial Numbers, System etc – and to be classified utilising the NBS Toolkit
