About This Project
Murphy Surveys carried out an inspection and survey of an outfall structure at Eggborough Power Station. Our team involved in the site work, post processing and report production consisted of engineering surveyors from our Specialist Engineering Services (SES) department. We were required to ascertain the extension of the asset life by 30 years and to ensure the safety and serviceability for its future use.
The purpose of the inspection and survey was to
• ascertain the current condition of the structure
• assess the nature and extent of any disrepair
• determine scour within the adjacent waterway
• confirm the levels of the structure as per the as built drawing
The inspection was carried out through touching and probing of all elements of the structure. Particular attention was given to the bathymetric survey and state of the riverbed within the vicinity of the structure. The purpose here was to locate any areas of scour and to identify the need for possible recommendations and to protect the structures existing revetment.
Murphy Surveys delivered a survey report and a 3D model of the bathymetric survey. The report included an overall condition rating of the structure, a breakdown of any specific noted defects and findings (detailing a condition rating of the structural element and a repair priority), conclusions and recommendations, and photographic evidence where possible.
