| Overview: | The re-development of the National Maternity Hospital Dublin will involve the erection of a three floor extension at 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floor levels at the rear of the hospital, extension of the current ground floor coffee shop and erection of a new emergency / triage department at 1st floor level. The new build areas will include an extended Neonatal department, an extended theatre and anaesthetics department with three new operating theatres, an extension of antenatal patient accommodation, relocation of the hospital’s antenatal education, physiotherapy and dietetics department as well parts of the antenatal ward to facilitate the extension of the Labour/Delivery Department. The development will include new link corridors from the existing hospital to the new build area and will also be serviced by lifts and stairways from ground floor to all levels. |
| Survey Requirements: | Murphy Surveys proven expertise in sensitive locations and live working sites ensured that we were recruited to fulfil all of the surveys required to facilitate the design of the re-development. Surveys included detailed site plans, extensive measured build of all floor plates and elevations, topographical surveys, utility mapping and GPR, floorplans and sections. These surveys were carried out on both hospital property and sections adjoining roads and premises. Owing to the face that the National Maternity is one of the busiest maternity hospitals in the country, and a live environment, Murphy Surveys employed a number of survey techniques to minimise the impact of working in the hospital especially in and around the wards and theatres. To prevent errors and the need for return visits, our surveyors used “in- field verification techniques utilising field computers and laser scanning techniques. |
